OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Me. – The Old Orchard Beach Surge (14-16) demolished the Puerto Rico Islanders (19-11) 23-2 in Empire Professional Baseball League play Friday night.
The Surge locked in on pitcher Christian Olmos in the bottom of the 7th, putting up 10 runs in the frame.
Designated hitter Eric Kozak drove in 4 RBI, going 3-5 with a double and a walk. First baseman Collin Carroll cleared the bases in the 7th with a double, going 3-6 on the night. Left fielder Cole Easley debuted for the Surge with a perfect 3-3 including 3 walks, driving in 2 and scoring 4 times himself.
Surge starting pitcher Ricky Shafer pitched a complete game, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, giving up 2 walks and striking out 11.
The Surge play the 5th game of their 6-game series against the Puerto Rico Islanders tomorrow afternoon at 1 P.M. at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.
