OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME – The Old Orchard Beach Surge defeated the Aguada Explorers with a score of 5 to 0 at The Ballpark on Saturday night.
The Surge starter Kurtis Hultz threw seven shutout innings, striking out five batters and allowing only five hits. Reliever John Larossa threw two scoreless innings to end the game, striking out three batters.
The Surge were headlined by Dylan Hatch, who had the lone RBI, hitting a single to score Collin Caroll. John Tierney had one hit and three walks, while Eric Kozak also had three walks.
The Explorers had six players collect one hit each, and Tyler Post led the team by reaching base twice. Explorers starter Tyler Jack threw 4.1 innings, allowing three runs.
This win gets the Old Orchard Beach Surge back to .500, sitting at 13-13 on the season.
The Empire Professional Baseball League All-Star game will be played on Monday, July 16th at The Ballpark.
